About the position

The Baseball Operations Intern for the Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) will support the day-to-day operations of PDP, which is a collaborative effort between USA Baseball and Major League Baseball. This role involves event management and data collection to evaluate top amateur baseball talent, working with a team of interns to facilitate on-site operations and conduct assessments across the country during the summer of 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and managing PDP events, including athletic assessments and on-field gameplay.
  • Travel to regional events nationwide to facilitate operations for amateur prospects.
  • Collect and analyze data using advanced tools like OptoJump, RightEye, Visionm VALD ForceDecks, Rapsodo, and TrackMan.
  • Provide insights to athletes, coaches, and scouts regarding assessment data collected during PDP events.
  • Support post-event data aggregation and analysis to inform athlete development.
  • Identify areas for program growth, including the integration of emerging technologies and enhanced data management strategies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience within baseball and a passion for the sport.
  • Strong organizational, logistical, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive Suite, and Adobe programs.
  • Interest in sports science and player development.
  • Ability to thrive in a team setting with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing organizational needs.
  • Willingness to travel to USA Baseball events and third-party events throughout the United States.
  • Ability to relocate to the Durham/Cary, NC area for the duration of the internship.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check prior to employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in baseball as a player, coach, or administrator.
  • Prior experience in sports event management.
  • Previous experience in sport performance and player development.
  • Familiarity with baseball operations software such as Rapsodo, Diamond Kinetics, or Trackman.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
