About the position
The Biological Safety Engineering Intern position at Philips offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in a HealthTech environment. This 3-month paid internship involves assisting in the development of biological safety programs, conducting biological risk assessments, and supporting testing processes in compliance with global regulatory standards. Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals in the field, enhancing their understanding of biocompatibility and medical device regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of biological safety programs through biological risk assessments, testing plans, and strategies.
- Support the execution of testing at outside test labs.
- Learn and adhere to the internal quality management system and follow current biocompatibility procedures.
- Participate in biocompatibility training programs and provide weekly project status reports.
- Assist development teams in selecting proper materials for use in medical devices.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Toxicology, or a closely related field.
- Experience with or deep knowledge of medical device design requirements and the risk management process.
- Experience writing scientific protocols/reports, evaluating results, and performing data analysis.
- Strong interest in global medical device regulations/requirements/standards and a commitment to quality.
- Familiarity with ISO 10993 and ISO 18562 and knowledge of FDA 2023 Guidance Document is a plus.
- Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to work independently.

Benefits
- Hourly pay range of $25.00 to $28.00, plus overtime eligibility.
