About The Position

HF Sinclair is seeking a Business Analytics (Branded Fuels) Intern for the upcoming summer located in Dallas, TX. This intern will operate under close and frequent supervision aids the Branded Product Marketing organization with business analysis (operational and financial), prepare market analyses, and assist with other reporting assignments for our Sales team, Operations, Brand, and Product Pricing departments.

Requirements

  • Some completed courses needed for a bachelor's degree in business or computer science
  • Strong business acumen and ability to effectively communicate
  • Strong verbal communication skills, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient and demonstrated ability working with spreadsheets, word processing and database applications
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and determine alternative courses of action
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products, PowerPoint in particular
  • Ability to perform intermediate level mathematical calculations
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking

Responsibilities

  • Assists with monthly Operational Analysis of business for Monthly Scorecard
  • Key Performance Indicators - drivers for volume (consumer demand, refinery performance, pricing environment, identify distributor discrepancies, highlight discounts or pricing outliers)
  • Assists with reviewing and/or auditing branded retail station project economics
  • Validating site volume performance, assess loyalty program usage, % product grade, ratio of deals done with Distributor/site packages and overall conversion of sites from prospect to branded
  • ROI on Marketing Investments by region
  • Assists with analyzing Premium Fuel Market - identify our biggest opportunities, how do our competitors perform in this space
  • Assists with identifying top distributor qualities - come up with set of metrics to rank distributors
  • Assists with creation of Regional KPI's - benchmark opportunities against what we consider 'good' for that region
  • Assist with management reports that utilize data visualization (Power BI) to showcase key performance indicators for effective and timely decision making
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor
