About the position

As a Gilead intern, you will contribute to high-impact meaningful projects that will not only further advance our company's mission but will allow you to gain real-world experience at one of the most innovative organizations in the world. This internship is designed to prepare undergraduate students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the Corporate Finance functions of Gilead Sciences, which will include both theoretical and practical applications of the knowledge you have attained through your education. Gilead Finance offers you the opportunity to pursue a career in health care while providing the flexibility to work across various business functions as we work together to help patients. Finance is a unique function that supports every area of the business by providing financial leadership, setting company strategy, and managing the financials by helping to analyze budgets and forecast and maximize profits. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, conducting financial planning and investments, researching, analyzing, and presenting a primary research project as directed by a supervisor, supporting Gilead's ongoing close and forecast activities, investigating variances between forecast and results, and assisting in preparing ad hoc reporting and analysis to inform business decisions. You will also gain substantial knowledge into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, develop planning, organizational, and time management skills, and increase your knowledge of computer skills and technology. Additionally, you will develop interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with employees and external clients, culminating in a final presentation showcasing your work near the conclusion of your internship. The primary incentive in this program is the opportunity to investigate a career opportunity in the biotechnology industry with hands-on experience prior to graduation. Once completed, the intern will have sufficient knowledge necessary to determine if a career in the bioscience industry is the right opportunity to pursue. You will develop skills vitally important in today's business environment, including team-based interaction, the ability to manage outcomes without having direct authority over others, and the capability to aid in defining and directing the local firm's initiatives. You will gain a full understanding of the day-to-day operations of a biotechnology organization.
