About the position

The S&B Family of Companies is seeking an Intern, Structural Engineer to join TAI Engineers, LLC in New Orleans, LA. This internship offers an exciting opportunity in the marine industry, where the intern will perform routine assignments under close supervision, applying standard design techniques and procedures. The role involves supporting structural analysis and design tasks, contributing to the development of marine structures, and gaining valuable experience in a professional engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Support in preparing finite element models for static and dynamic analyses including global strength and spectral fatigue analyses.
• Prepare technical reports documenting analysis methodology, results, and conclusions.
• Carry out structural analysis using standard beam analysis software and perform hand calculations.
• Provide engineering conclusions based on analysis data.
• Perform structural design and analysis of new and existing marine structures.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in a related Engineering discipline.
• Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university.
• Working knowledge of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment.
• Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and work in a team environment or independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous internship experience in a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with marine engineering guidelines such as ABS Rules and DNV Rules.
• Experience with industry software such as Matlab, Python, VBA, Rhinoceros 3D, and Solidworks.
