About the position

The Hanover's Internship Program offers college students a unique opportunity to engage in a 10-week summer internship, running from June to mid-August. This program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the insurance industry, specifically within the Claims team. Interns will work on meaningful projects that not only enhance their academic knowledge but also allow them to apply their skills in a real-world setting. Throughout the internship, participants will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, including leaders, managers, and subject matter experts, fostering a rich learning environment. Interns will be involved in various activities, including a cross-functional team-building project focused on corporate philanthropy, which emphasizes the company's commitment to community engagement. Weekly development workshops will be held to enhance interns' professional skills, and social activities will provide opportunities for networking and building relationships with peers. The program aims to identify and nurture talented individuals for potential full-time employment opportunities after graduation. In this role, interns will partner with their teams and management to generate innovative solutions, utilizing existing information to its fullest potential. They will assist in developing reports that support strategic business initiatives and will be responsible for summarizing information and effectively communicating analyses to aid in the claims processing. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will create and present a final presentation to management, showcasing their accomplishments and contributions throughout the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with team and management to generate innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open-mindedness.
  • Develop or assist with reporting to support strategic business initiatives.
  • Summarize information and effectively communicate written and verbal analyses to assist in processing claims.
  • Create and present a final presentation for management and leadership members at the close of the internship program highlighting the work you accomplished throughout the summer.

Requirements

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time 10-week internship program.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • 0-2 years of professional working experience.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to draw insights and observations from detailed and multifaceted data and reports.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and brings broad perspectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
