Intern/Co-Op - Cyber Security, Physical Security & Emergency Management

About the position

The Security Internship Program at Consumers Energy is designed for current college students interested in cyber and physical security within the energy industry. Interns will work collaboratively as part of a larger team to support various security activities, including cyber security, security engineering, and physical security. This internship offers a challenging yet supportive environment where students can learn from industry leaders and gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide services and support for cyber security, security engineering, and physical security activities.
• Deploy new security technologies and utilize existing tools to detect and respond to security incidents.
• Build and maintain new security platforms and capabilities, ensuring adherence to enterprise security standards.
• Work with field investigators to respond to incidents, conduct investigations, and complete small projects.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
• A minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior work experience or internship is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• Knowledge of MS Outlook and experience with MS Visio.
• Familiarity with technology such as computers, mobile devices, and security cameras.
• Understanding of networking concepts and operating systems.
• Knowledge of phishing, security monitoring, forensics, malware analysis, and vulnerability management.
• Experience in conducting investigations.
