About the position

Advanced Energy is seeking Electrical/Electronic Design Engineering Interns and Co-Ops to support development activities across its North American design sites. Interns will collaborate with experienced engineering teams on the development of high-performance power conversion, metrology, or control solutions. This role is ideal for undergraduate and post-graduate candidates pursuing degrees in relevant fields, providing hands-on experience in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Active participant in a core team to meet schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction goals
  • Assisting in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype power supply units
  • Analyze test data and reports against functional and performance specifications
  • Interfacing with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are met
  • Circuit design of analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, and power circuits
  • Development and implementation of control algorithms
  • Design and analysis of magnetic components
  • Modeling and simulation of devices, circuits or systems using commercial or proprietary tools

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a lab environment debugging circuits and evaluating product spec compliance using tools including oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, logic analyzers, and firmware interface tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools, working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with CAD tools, for schematics, analysis, and modeling/simulation
  • History of firmware programming for embedded systems is a plus
  • Ability to work with serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI and I2C
