About the position

The Intern in the Complex Claims Unit at The Hartford Financial Services Group provides an opportunity for students to gain foundational knowledge in general liability claims, including asbestos, toxic torts, environmental hazards, and construction defects. The role involves assisting with policy reviews, collaborating with business partners, and participating in a capstone research project to analyze and present findings to senior leaders. Interns will also engage in professional development workshops and networking opportunities within the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the review of policies, contracts, and financial files to support claim handling.
• Partner with internal and external business partners in the claims process, including investigation of claims and negotiation of settlements.
• Complete a capstone research project in collaboration with other interns, analyzing information and preparing a presentation for senior leaders.
• Participate in weekly professional development and training workshops.

Requirements

• Working towards a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts or Business with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or May 2026.
• Demonstrated leadership potential through extracurricular activities.
• Record of high achievement, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical, and research skills.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and make sound recommendations while demonstrating honesty, integrity, courtesy, and respect.
