About the position

The internship in Compliance and Risk Management will start in the middle of July and continue through the end of the fall semester. The intern will work to provide analysis and support for projects within the Compliance & Risk Management Department. Activities will include learning core business functions such as corporate governance, enterprise and information security risk management, and performing compliance assessments. The intern will receive real-world exposure to all technical functions of an in-house compliance and risk management program and must be able to work 20-25 hours per week during the school semester.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and participates in all aspects of the Compliance & Risk Management Department.
  • Participates in planning activities of information technology, operational and compliance audits across the enterprise and assists with coordination between IT and internal audit participants.
  • Participates in compliance assessments including documenting evidence requests and evaluating provided evidence for adequacy to determine control compliance.
  • Participates in risk assessments including the identification of risks, evaluation of risk, and monitoring of risk throughout the risk lifecycle.
  • Participates in governance processes including the review and update of corporate and information security policies and procedures.
  • Performs research and documents logical and physical solutions that prevent, detect, and correct the system to be certified and accredited.
  • Identifies security requirements to bring a system into compliance.
  • Participates in business continuity exercises including planning, documentation, and testing of business continuity functions.
  • Participates in the implementation of the security awareness program.
  • Promotes information security awareness and monitors compliance with enterprise information security policies.
  • Plans, develops, executes, and documents results of control test procedures.
  • Performs other Compliance and Risk Management team duties as assigned or requested.

  • Basic understanding of business and cybersecurity principles and best practices
  • Ability to sense the importance or impact of issues and take appropriate actions
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively to achieve optimal results
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to create effective procedure documents and workflow diagrams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status required
  • Visa Sponsorship or C2C not available
