About the position

The Copywriter Intern position at Lumen is a summer internship designed for students eager to explore digital innovation and enhance their writing skills. This fully remote, 10-week program offers interns the opportunity to work closely with various teams to create compelling content that aligns with Lumen's brand voice and strategic objectives. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment, contributing to projects that drive business growth and connect people through technology.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a core member of the Copy team, collaborating with UX, Video, Design, and Project Management.
• Work from a creative brief to generate strong, results-driven concepts.
• Understand, implement, and champion the Lumen brand voice.
• Present ideas internally to peers, mentors, and managers.
• Deliver final creative that meets the team's strategic objectives.
• Coordinate and collaborate across groups to create world-class content for web, digital, video, and social media.
• Manage multiple projects and deliver work in a timely manner.
• Edit and proof work to ensure high editorial standards are met across all content outputs.
• Stay current on trends and competitors within the editorial sphere.

Requirements

• Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, with rising senior level education status at the start of the internship.
• Graduating between August 2025 and May 2026.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 - August 8, 2025).
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

• A drive to understand emerging technologies, trends, and philosophies in marketing, communications, technology, and social media.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PPT, Excel) and comfort with learning new project management tools (Workfront).
• Ability to work independently with little direction under tight deadlines.
• Proven experience as a copywriter or related role preferred.
• Knowledge of online content strategy and creation preferred.

Benefits

• Hourly compensation ranging from $22.00 to $35.00 per hour based on education level and experience.
