About the position

The Data Scientist Intern position at Lumen is a summer internship designed for students eager to explore digital innovation. This 10-week program offers hands-on experience in building statistical models and predictive tools to support the Finance organization, specifically the Margin Management team. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex business problems and contribute to the development of machine learning models, all while gaining valuable insights into the telecommunications industry.

Responsibilities

• Build a model to track historical trends of General Ledger mapping on the cost system and create insights for future accounting periods.
• Develop an association model for Lumen's Dark Fiber contract to ensure compliance with contractual arrangements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex business problems and build statistical models.
• Create new insights that will drive business growth and profitability.
• Assist with building out machine learning models to optimize the Re-rate program.

Requirements

• Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, with rising senior level education status at the start of the internship.
• Graduating between August 2025 and May 2026.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• General knowledge of statistical models.
