About the position

The Design Coordinator Intern at The Bernard Group Inc. is a paid internship designed for individuals pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field. This role focuses on modeling and analyzing 3D models to create point-of-sale fixtures that meet customer expectations. Interns will work closely with Principal Designers and cross-functional teams, gaining hands-on experience in retail design and production processes while contributing to innovative projects for prestigious brands.

Responsibilities

  • Model and analyze new and existing 3-dimensional models for point-of-sale fixtures.
  • Collaborate with Principal Designers and cross-functional teams including Product Development, Engineers, and Sales.
  • Assist in the concepting and design of retail fixturing and displays using 2D/3D modeling software.
  • Research and recommend new trends and materials for retail design.
  • Support the Design team in developing design concepts, including product/trend research and initial product designs.
  • Produce and implement illustrations and 3D renderings for client presentations.
  • Complete miscellaneous projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a similar discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Industrial Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • More than 1 year of experience with 3D software such as 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, SolidWorks, or SketchUp on a PC platform.
  • Proficiency in 2D layout and design programs from the Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Basic understanding of fixture construction and manufacturing processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating spatial visualization, sketching ability, and design aesthetics.
  • Interest in learning the fundamentals of retail design.
  • Experience working within a team of cross-functional professionals.
