About the position

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our team as an intern in the engineering department. This internship is designed for students who have completed at least one year of college and are currently enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity. The internship will provide hands-on experience in a dynamic environment where you can apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges in the transportation industry. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects that contribute to the development of innovative solutions for freight and transit rail systems. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and gain insights into the digital-rail-and-transit ecosystems. This role requires a strong initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be expected to demonstrate effective communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities while engaging in technical discussions and project work. Responsibilities

  • Assist in engineering projects related to freight and transit rail systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop innovative solutions.
  • Participate in technical discussions and contribute ideas.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project objectives.
  • Document findings and present results to the engineering team.

Requirements

  • Completed at least one year of college (Rising Sophomore).
  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related technical degree.
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale after completing the full year of college.
  • Open to applicants legally authorized to work in the U.S., without the need for current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship for employment.
  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technically in engineering roles to supplement classroom learning.
  • Ability to communicate technical aptitude, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work for a minimum of 10 weeks (maximum of 12).
  • Willingness to take roles at one Wabtec location, with some assignments requiring occasional travel.

Nice-to-haves
