About The Position
HNTB, a leading design firm in the transportation industry, is seeking an Electrical Intern Engineer - Communications Systems for its Chelmsford, MA office. This position is integral to the HNTB Communications team, which plays a crucial role in supporting safe train operations, providing information to the traveling public, and enhancing security measures. The firm is recognized nationally for its expertise in communications systems, encompassing everything from initial planning to technical design, project management, and construction support. The intern will engage in various aspects of the communications team, contributing to the design of fiber optic systems, radio systems, control systems, video surveillance, access control, Voice over IP (VoIP), and passenger information systems. As an intern, you will assist in the preparation of design calculations, drawings, specifications, engineering cost estimates, and field support for various rail projects. This role is designed for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary engineering program, providing a hands-on opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. The intern will work under the supervision of experienced engineers, gaining valuable insights into the engineering process and contributing to real-world projects. The position does not offer relocation or housing assistance, making it essential for candidates to be local or able to commute to the Chelmsford office.
