About the position

At Crystal Group, we are fueled by creativity, technical expertise, and tenacity, pushing the boundaries of what is needed in the military, industrial, and commercial markets. As an Intern Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and verification of custom electrical assemblies and interconnects. This position involves full-stack development of mixed signal printed circuit boards (PCBs) that contain high-speed digital circuitry, embedded systems, power conversion, and related technologies, along with associated chassis and interface wiring design. You will utilize electrical design tools such as Altium and PSpice to perform engineering tasks, converting technical requirements into schematic diagrams, printed circuit board layouts, and assembly drawings. Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and designs will be essential to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. You will prepare technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installations and operations conform to standards and customer requirements. In this role, you will assist System Architects in researching, designing, and evaluating systems and processes to meet customer requirements, ensuring that designs are producible and error-free. You will provide component-level review and in-depth electrical troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services, as well as assist the Sales department. Investigating electrical equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and recommend remedial actions will also be part of your responsibilities. You will design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical equipment, components, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, or military purposes. Additionally, you will develop or test electrical models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, and potential new applications. Directing or coordinating electrical manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements will be crucial. You will compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projects, and design electrical test control apparatus or equipment for testing products. Performing detailed electrical calculations to establish manufacturing standards or specifications will also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize electrical design tools (e.g., Altium, PSpice) to perform engineering tasks, converting technical requirements into schematic diagrams, printed circuit board layouts, and assembly drawings.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Assist System Architects in researching, designing, evaluating systems and/or processes to meet customer requirements, ensuring designs are producible and error-free.
  • Provide component-level review and in-depth electrical troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services as well as Sales department assistance.
  • Investigate electrical equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
  • Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical equipment, components, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, or military purposes.
  • Develop or test electrical models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification.
  • Direct or coordinate electrical manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
  • Specify electrical components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, or environmental regulations.
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projects.
  • Design electrical test control apparatus or equipment or develop procedures for testing products.
  • Perform detailed electrical calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specifications.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of electrical designs or applications.
  • Evaluate electrical designs or prototypes for energy performance or environmental impact.
  • Plan or implement research methodology or procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Design electrical systems or components that minimize energy requirements.
  • Write electrical performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
  • Provide technical assistance for the Pilot Line build and testing of new products and systems.
  • Comply with safety, quality, and ESD guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a 'protected person').
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with printed circuit design and layout, skills, and knowledge with systems integration.
  • Ability to sit, stand and bend at various times while lifting and reviewing computer hardware items.
  • Ability to inspect products and effectively use the computer on a daily basis.
  • Familiarity with software programs related to engineering theory (Altium Designer, AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD).
  • Demonstrated experience in multitasking to meet several simultaneous project milestones up to and including completion of several projects.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment and willingness to change priorities as needed.
