About the position

At HNTB, we are looking for intern Civil Engineers to join our Bellevue, WA office. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that has been delivering solutions for some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects across the country for over a century. As an intern, you will have the chance to create a meaningful career while contributing to building communities that matter to all of us. The role will involve assisting engineering teams in various tasks and duties, which will provide you with hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering. You will assist engineers with research, development, and design of projects, as well as the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned. This position is designed to help you gain practical experience and apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting. You will also perform other duties as assigned, which will further enhance your understanding of the engineering process and project management. This internship is a great opportunity for students currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary engineering program, and it will allow you to develop your skills in a supportive environment. However, please note that relocation and housing are not provided for these positions, so candidates should be local or able to commute to Bellevue, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Assists engineer teams in various tasks and duties.
  • Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects.
  • Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program.
  • Understands engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles at a basic level.
  • Shows proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Accepts and applies direction from peers and supervisors.
  • Obtains an understanding of introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations.
  • Ability to organize information for use in drawings or other documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program.
  • Microstation and/or AutoCAD experience.
  • Strong interest in transportation infrastructure.
