About the position

HF Sinclair is seeking a Process Safety Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2025 in El Dorado, Kansas. This internship provides an opportunity for students to assist engineers with routine engineering assignments under close supervision, contributing to various projects within the refining engineering department.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates project assignments with other engineers and technicians.
• Performs engineering design calculations, sketches, and technical comparisons as required.
• Conducts research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes.
• Assists in designing and planning layouts for chemical processes on a commercial scale.
• Investigates effective arrangements of operations such as mixing, crushing, and heat transfer.
• Implements processing methods and controls to meet quality standards efficiently.
• Reviews engineering drawings and recommends necessary changes.
• Researches code issues and collaborates with local officials.
• Generates construction P&IDs.
• Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Engineering Managers.
• Surveys construction areas to plan equipment and piping layout.
• Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Engineering Managers.

Requirements

• Some completed courses needed for a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering are required.
• Basic knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically.
• Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft products.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of Junior level engineering courses is preferred.
• Experience with engineering software is preferred.
