About the position

This internship will provide hands-on experience in the Enterprise Data team at Compeer Financial. The intern will learn how to work in an agile development team while applying data movement processes and presentation techniques. This is a paid internship; however, the intern must provide their own housing and transportation. Business-related transportation and expenses will be covered by the organization. The internship is expected to be full-time through the summer of 2025 and is located out of our Bloomington, IL or Lakeville, MN offices. The intern will interact with the development team and business users to develop and execute test plans on new functionalities. They will assist with developer testing prior to quality assurance (QA) and adhere to the standards and best practices of established quality assurance guidelines. Additionally, the intern will assist with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development under the guidance of an experienced developer and will help design and develop data visualizations using reports and dashboards with Power Business Information desktop. The intern will also assist with deployments and updates to various reports, dashboards, and visualizations in the Power BI online service.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with development team and business users to develop and execute test plans on new functionality.
  • Assist with developer testing prior to QA.
  • Adhere to standards and best practices of established quality assurance guidelines.
  • Assist with ETL development under the guidance of an experienced developer.
  • Assist in design and develop data visualizations using reports and dashboards using Power Business Information desktop.
  • Assist with deployments and updates to various reports, dashboards, and visualization in the Power BI online service.

Requirements

  • Active student pursuing an information technology degree and/or certificate.
  • Exposure to ETL process, database programming such as SQL.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong time management and planning skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills, including the ability to translate technical information into non-technical terms.
