About the position

The Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine is offering a rotating internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery, designed to provide a comprehensive clinical experience for interns preparing for equine practice, residency, or further graduate studies. The internship will run from June 17, 2024, to June 30, 2025, and includes direct supervision and mentoring from faculty clinicians, with increasing responsibilities as clinical skills are developed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the instruction and supervision of veterinary students in clinical rotations and laboratories.
  • Provide primary emergency service after hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis with other house officers.
  • Participate in night and weekend emergency duty and inpatient critical care for equine cases.
  • Work closely with faculty clinicians for training and mentoring.

Requirements

  • D.V.M. degree required.
  • Oklahoma Faculty License is required, with an annual fee of $125.
  • Must have passed the NAVLE exam prior to beginning the internship.
  • Effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Interpersonal skills demonstrating professional teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to manage varied relationships calmly under stressful situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in equine clinical practice or related fields.
