About The Position

Hitachi Vantara Federal is seeking a Data Science Intern to support corporate projects focused on Machine Learning (ML) and DataOps technologies. This hands-on role will involve working with the Pentaho Plus DataOps Platform to build compelling use cases that demonstrate the platform's capabilities-including integrations with Deep Learning, ChatGPT, Hugging Face, and more-as time allows. The ideal candidate is passionate about data science and public sector technology, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to a purpose-driven organization improving our nation's data infrastructure.

Requirements

• US Citizenship (required)
• Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields
• Rising juniors or seniors
• Excellent communication skills
• Problem-solving mindset and strong attention to detail
• Curiosity and creativity in learning

Responsibilities

• Learn the core components of the Pentaho Plus DataOps Platform
• Identify and define ML-focused use cases for structured/unstructured data
• Source open datasets for training and testing
• Build and evaluate ML models
• Document demo scripts and decision rationale using storytelling techniques
