About the position

The internship at Alaska Airlines offers students a hands-on experience in various departments, allowing them to work on impactful projects that contribute to the company's business and community growth. Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journal entries and variance analysis of income statement accounts
• Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations to identify, investigate and conclude on variances
• Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports, such as monthly accounting packages and SEC filings
• Work on special projects related to Fixed Assets, DOT reporting, and internal statistics database.

Requirements

• Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), with an emphasis on Excel skills
• Self-starter with natural curiosity to understand general business practices as well as airline-specific practices
• Technical knowledge of accounting procedures
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship
• Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum age of 18
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of US GAAP
