About the position

The Financial Accounting & Reporting Intern at Alaska Airlines will engage in a hands-on internship experience, contributing to key projects that support the company's business and community growth. Interns will work in a dynamic environment, gaining practical experience while networking with employees and leaders within the organization. This role offers the unique opportunity to travel on Alaska Airlines during the internship, enhancing the overall experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end journal entries and variance analysis of income statement accounts
  • Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations to identify, investigate and conclude on variances
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports, such as monthly accounting packages and SEC filings
  • Work on special projects related to Fixed Assets, DOT reporting, and internal statistics database

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with strong Excel skills
  • Self-starter with a natural curiosity about general business practices and airline-specific practices
  • Technical knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one semester or quarter remaining after the internship
  • Achieved junior or higher academic standing at the time of application
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
