About the position

The Intern Food Service Management position is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in food service management within a school district setting. The intern will assist in the preparation and serving of food, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards and departmental policies. This role involves direct supervision and provides an opportunity to learn about managing cafeteria operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in food preparation or cashiering as needed to ensure department is operating in accordance with policies and procedures according to planned centralized menu of tested, uniform, standardized recipes.
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies and procedures.
  • Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards.
  • Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety.
  • Supervises cafeteria employees to ensure department is operating in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Order food and supplies, supervises food preparation.
  • Gathers employee feedback to ensure that daily reports are prepared and submitted on time.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and/or 3 Years as a Cluster Lead with MNPS Required
  • ServSafe Certification Required
