About the position

The Intern - Geologist or Civil / Environmental Engineer position at Geosyntec offers an exciting opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in geology or engineering to real-world situations. This part-time internship, lasting approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer of 2025, allows interns to gain valuable business skills necessary for a successful consulting career. The role may also include limited hours during the academic year and the potential for returning for additional semester rotations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools.
• Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
• Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
• Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, scientists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors, and construction personnel.
• Potential for fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, environmental site assessments, and drilling and contractor oversight.

Requirements

• Currently registered in a Bachelor's or Master's university degree program in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites.

Nice-to-haves

• Upper division (e.g. senior) or Master's enrollment.
• Degree focus area in civil, geotechnical, environmental or water resources engineering or geology.
• Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office.
