About the position

Geosyntec Consultants Inc. is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a Geologist or Civil/Environmental Engineer in Minneapolis, MN. This part-time position allows interns to apply their academic knowledge in geology or engineering to real-world situations while gaining essential business skills for a successful consulting career. The internship is designed for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer of 2025, with the possibility of starting earlier during the academic year. Candidates may have the opportunity to return for additional semester rotations during their studies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools.
• Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
• Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
• Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, scientists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors, and construction personnel.
• Potential for fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, environmental site assessments, and drilling and contractor oversight.
• Local travel or driving to project sites as needed.

Requirements

• Currently registered in a Bachelor's or Master's university degree program in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Upper division (e.g. senior) or Master's enrollment is preferred.
• Degree focus area in civil, geotechnical, environmental or water resources engineering or geology is preferred.
• Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills are required.
• Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites are required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office.
