About the position

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is seeking a creative and motivated individual for a Summer 2024 Internship within the Design & Branding team. This remote-first position is designed for those who are passionate about graphic design and eager to contribute to impactful marketing and communication efforts. As an intern, you will play a vital role in conceptualizing, designing, and executing various creative solutions tailored to diverse target audiences. Your work will encompass creating marketing materials, digital graphics, and other visual assets that align with AGU's mission of advancing discovery and solution science in the Earth and space sciences. In this role, you will be responsible for designing materials for events, social media, and digital properties, as well as developing magazine spreads and covers for Eos, AGU's award-winning monthly news magazine. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with team members to ensure that all projects meet programmatic goals and effectively communicate AGU's strategic intent. Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and execute creative solutions for various target audiences.
  • Create designs for marketing materials, events, digital properties, social media, and other visual assets.
  • Research, develop, and design magazine spreads, covers, and in-house advertising for Eos, AGU's monthly news magazine.
  • Collaborate on projects to ensure all work meets programmatic goals.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in graphic design or current student/graduate of a graphic design program.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas through imagery and design to support marketing and communications goals.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat, as well as the Microsoft suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
