About the position

As an Intern Hardware Engineer at ARM, you will have the opportunity to engage in a 12-week internship program across various hardware teams. These teams include Architecture & Technology, Central Engineering Central Processing Unit, Central Engineering Systems, Solutions Engineering Implementation, Solutions Engineering Physical IP, and Solutions Engineering SoC Engineering. Each group presents unique challenges and perspectives within the Hardware Career pathway, allowing you to explore different facets of hardware engineering. You will be able to express your interest in a specific business group during the application process or opt-in to all groups to broaden your opportunities. In this role, you will be integrated into small to medium-sized teams that adhere to modern Agile principles. You will collaborate with fellow engineers, sharing ideas and contributing to discussions, while also documenting and presenting your work. The environment encourages mutual support and the sharing of findings, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation. As a Hardware Intern, you will be treated as a full-fledged engineer, receiving guidance and support from experienced professionals in the field. Your responsibilities will include analyzing existing tools for potential improvements and automation, verifying intellectual property (IP) using various methodologies, and implementing ARM IP in silicon process nodes. You will also develop system solutions utilizing ARM IP for diverse market domains, including mobile, IoT, and data centers. Additionally, you will be tasked with writing specifications for ARM's IP products and systems, analyzing trade-offs between different options using software or hardware models. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the hardware engineering landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing existing tools for improvements and automation.
  • Verifying IP using methodologies such as constrained random simulation and formal methods.
  • Implementing ARM IP in silicon process nodes using design automation tools.
  • Developing system solutions using ARM IP for various market domains.
  • Writing specifications for ARM's IP products and systems, analyzing trade-offs between different options.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience in at least one programming language (C/C++, Python, Perl, etc.).
  • Fundamental understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture.
  • Familiarity with a hardware description language like VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation tools or methodologies.
  • Passion for computing and the semiconductor industry beyond academic studies.
