About the position
The Investment Management Intern at The Michaels Organization will gain hands-on experience in the real estate industry by assisting the Investment Management team with various responsibilities. This internship is designed for proactive and self-motivated students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, while also developing essential skills in business acumen, quantitative analysis, and presentation. Interns will work on real projects, collaborate with senior leadership, and participate in networking opportunities, all aimed at enhancing their understanding of the real estate business.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Investment Management department to improve reporting capabilities and processes.
- Assist with market research and business plan development.
- Enhance overall operational efficiency of the department.
- Identify communities in need of asset management support and help develop strategic plans to improve performance.
- Perform analysis and interpretation of community operating results and performance versus their business plan.
- Research and report on community market data.
Requirements
- Progress towards a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to apply them meaningfully.
- Intellectual curiosity to learn about all aspects of the business and new tools/skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Diligent work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that balances independent work and team collaboration.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
