About the position

The Purchasing internship role at Volvo Group provides students with a unique opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, while also promoting their career goals through direct contact with professionals in the field of Logistics Purchasing. This internship is designed to be a structured learning experience, allowing interns to work on projects that contribute to the Logistics Purchasing Americas group. Interns will engage in various professional activities, gaining insights into the sourcing process, supplier relationships, and the logistics services function as a whole. During the internship, students will support sourcing projects for Logistics Purchasing, assisting the Americas Buyers with data collection and report development. They will participate in supplier and internal team meetings, and will be responsible for preparing and documenting work analyses into standardized templates. Additionally, interns will present their sourcing project work to team members and managers, ensuring that the organization understands the outcomes of their projects. The internship also emphasizes professional development through weekly writing assignments, formal project presentations, and performance feedback from managers. Interns will receive verbal and written evaluations based on their work performance at the end of the internship, providing valuable insights into their contributions and areas for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support sourcing projects for Logistics Purchasing
  • Assist the Americas Buyers in data collection and report development
  • Participate in supplier and internal team meetings
  • Prepare and document work analyses into standardized templates
  • Present sourcing project work to team members and managers
  • Complete weekly writing assignments summarizing learning experiences and project updates
  • Deliver formal project presentations to peers, management, and senior leaders
  • Receive verbal and written feedback on work performance throughout the internship

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BA/BS degree program in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Completed at least 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Interest in pursuing a professional career in Logistics and/or Purchasing
