About the position

The Manufacturing Application Development intern will support the development of the Ignition manufacturing execution system (MES) at G&W Electric. This role involves designing and implementing data management strategies, modifying the MES system to meet production needs, and assessing traceability reporting to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance system reliability.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of the Ignition manufacturing execution system (MES).
• Design and implement data management strategies for integrating MES solutions with ERP systems and plant automation equipment.
• Modify and adapt the MES system to meet production and business needs.
• Customize existing MES software or assist in adding new software modules.
• Assess and help implement traceability reporting.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in programming languages Python and JavaScript preferred.
• Familiarity with REST APIs.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL and databases.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with web frameworks (e.g., Django, React, or Node.js) is a plus.
• Knowledge or experience in machine learning and data processing techniques is a plus.
