About the position

The Undergraduate Intern position at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) offers an exciting opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The intern will assist the engineering team in the layout, design, analysis, and resolution of routine engineering problems, contributing to various design tasks related to aircraft integration and component assembly using CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the day-to-day activities of the assigned functional area under general supervision.
• Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve engineering problems.
• Utilizes 3D CAD software for theoretical design solutions.
• Develops aircraft integration design solutions and structural mounting provisions.
• Details designs and drawings related to component assembly, structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices.
• Observes all laws, regulations, and applicable obligations while conducting business on behalf of the company.
• Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Requirements

• Active enrollment as an undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
• Completion of undergraduate degree by the time the internship begins, with plans to continue in a graduate program immediately after the internship.
• Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
• Ability to follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
• Basic communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal professionals.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills.

Benefits

• Hourly pay rate of $29.00 - $31.00/hr., depending on field of study and college years completed.
