About the position

The Mechanical Systems Intern at Virgin Galactic will engage in a 12-week summer internship designed to provide hands-on experience in aerospace engineering. Interns will work on real-life projects within the Mechanical Systems Engineering team, contributing to significant projects related to the company's goals in space travel. This role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while applying academic knowledge to practical challenges in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Mechanical Systems Engineering team in various projects.
• Assist in flight test planning and instrumentation.
• Conduct flight test data analysis.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to solve real-world problems.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
• Completed first year or equivalent credits at the start of the internship; preferred completion of second year or equivalent credits.
• Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining after the internship.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or current U.S. permanent resident holder.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Development of both technical skills and leadership qualities.
• Strong interest in commercial space flight.
