Michigan Paving and Materials, a vertically integrated CRH company, is seeking a summer intern in the field of Mine Engineering. This internship is designed for students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school, and it will take place in Monroe, Michigan. The internship is set to begin between mid-May and early June 2025 and will run through August 2025. Interns will engage in various responsibilities that include collaborating with others on geographical exploration, reviewing maps and drilling logs to assess the location, size, accessibility, and estimated volumes of mineral deposits. They will assist in long-range planning designs and data analysis, while also being trained to detect safety hazards and respond appropriately. Adherence to state and federal regulations, including those set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), is crucial. The role will also involve operating sUAVs for mine planning, topography mapping, and stripping calculations, as well as ensuring quality control and quality assurance. Interns will spend time in field operations for aggregates, work with operations on monthly projections, shadow operations personnel to learn about operational planning and aggregate objectives, and collaborate with crews and managers on blasting operations.
