Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze data on current shift change practices, documenting key areas for improvement.
  • Create visual maps of existing processes to identify gaps, bottlenecks, or inconsistencies.
  • Conduct interviews with shift supervisors, operators, and quality assurance staff to gather insights on current challenges and opportunities for a smoother transition between shifts.
  • Collaborate with the team to design a standardized shift change procedure, including checklists, communication protocols, and documentation standards.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring a pilot test of the new shift change procedure to assess effectiveness.
  • Collect feedback from team members on the pilot process and propose improvements to refine the standardized shift change procedure.
  • Help create comprehensive documentation and training materials for the standardized shift change procedure.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Biotech, Chemistry, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Must be available to work full time, 40 hours a week.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship OR have graduated within 1 year of the start of the program.
  • Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on-site, hybrid roles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes or experience in a production environment is a plus.
  • Experience with process mapping software is a bonus.
