About the position

Michael Baker International is seeking a bridge intern with software development skills to join the team in our Moon Township, PA office. This internship offers a great opportunity for career growth and the chance to contribute to cutting-edge projects within the Bridge Software Department, which has been integrating computer technology into bridge engineering for over 30 years.

Responsibilities

• Assist in utilizing bridge engineering skills and software development skills under the supervision of registered Professional Engineers.
• Contribute to bridge engineering and software engineering tasks.
• Potentially cross over to work within the bridge design department.

Requirements

• Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Engineer-In-Training certificate holder.
• Knowledge of structural analysis.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Desire to pursue a career in software development related to bridges and transportation structures.

Nice-to-haves

• Highly motivated self-starter.
• Knowledge of bridge engineering and AASHTO's bridge design and evaluation specifications.
• Strong structural engineering background.
• Knowledge of software programming using FORTRAN, C++, and/or C# development and debugging.
• Other programming experience: VB.NET, Matlab.
• Domain design using OOP.
• GUI design.
• OpenGL or general computer graphics.
• BIM for bridges or 3D modeling.
• Producing XML Reports (C++/C#).
• Software testing.
