About the position

The Nelnet Application Security Intern will work within the Application Security Team, contributing to real projects that enhance the security posture of Nelnet's development processes. This internship offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in application security while receiving mentorship from experienced professionals in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with real projects within the Application Security Team.
• Support the implementation of the Nelnet Application Security Program.
• Collaborate with IT Delivery teams to improve security standards.
• Coach development teams on application security topics.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field.
• Interest in Cybersecurity.
• Experience with the software build process and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS.
• Experience running open source scanning tools.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working in an agile development environment.
