About the position

The Iridium Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with the forefront of satellite communications technology. As an Intern in the System Integration and Test team, you will be involved in real projects from the very first day, contributing to the integration of vendor equipment into the lab and testing it with on-orbit assets. This 12-week program, running from May 27, 2025, to August 15, 2025, is designed to provide interns with valuable support to an Iridium department on significant projects or work assignments. You will have the chance to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns through regular activities, culminating in an end-of-internship presentation where you will reflect on your experiences and accomplishments. In this role, you will assist in the development and maintenance of test plans, procedures, and scripts for various testing phases, including feature, defect, and regression testing. You will also be responsible for documenting, recreating, and isolating reported software and hardware defects, collaborating with your team to identify risks and support mitigation strategies. This internship is not just about learning; it’s about making a tangible impact on the future of satellite communications while developing critical skills in a supportive and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Test planning, procedure development, and test execution for the Iridium system.
  • Research and data entry for all aspects of the Iridium system.
  • Assist in documenting, recreating, and isolating reported software and/or hardware defects found during testing.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify test, programmatic, and services implementation risks and support mitigation efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of test plans and procedures and test scripts for feature, defect, and regression testing.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution.
  • Engineering or Science Major preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing software in Java, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or Unix operating systems.
  • Experience with software management tools such as JIRA, GIT, and/or Bamboo.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor.
