About the position

The Technical Data Analyst intern at Auto-Owners Insurance is responsible for creating pricing plans that support the company's growth and profitability objectives. This role involves analyzing data quality, resolving data issues, and providing management with reports to aid in decision-making. The intern will also participate in training sessions and communicate effectively with team members.

Responsibilities

• Analyze new and existing data to assure high quality.
• Resolve data issues by working internally across divisions and externally with statistical agents.
• Evaluate and submit reoccurring statutory reporting, verification & payment of assessments, and ad-hoc data calls.
• Organize and provide management with reports to aid in decision making.
• Effectively communicate with other employees through verbal and written means.
• Participate in both formal and informal training sessions.

Requirements

• Student must be enrolled for a Bachelor's degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another related technical field, and must be of at least sophomore standing at the time of the application.
• High aptitude for mathematics and actuarial sciences.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL, R or other programming/database/statistical languages.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation.

Nice-to-haves

• Actuarial exams are considered but not required.
