About the position

The Internal Auditor position at RLI involves supporting the administration of the company's auditing processes, ensuring that audits consider appropriate risks. The role includes facilitating and participating in the execution of the audit process under supervision, contributing to various aspects of auditing, and assisting with special audit projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in ensuring audits consider the appropriate operational, financial, compliance, fraud, and technology risks.
  • Participates in the execution of the audit process in conformance with the RLI audit methodology, including composing narratives and workflows, performing walkthroughs, composing risk assessments, and developing and executing audit programs using data analytics.
  • Works with management to address audit issues and follows up to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Assists with special audit projects and other duties when needed.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of related experience or equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Ability to use analytical methods in the auditing process to understand relationships, check facts, and find creative solutions.
  • Ability to generate innovative solutions within the auditing process.
  • Ability to use spreadsheet software to summarize and analyze large amounts of data.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to understand and execute audit methodology and document audit work appropriately.
  • Ability to lead one or more concurrent audit projects with oversight from audit management.
  • Ability to effectively assess inherent and residual risk with limited oversight for planning and reporting.
  • Ability to review the work of others to ensure proper execution of audit methodology and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to business unit management.
