About the position

The Internal Auditor at International Dairy Queen Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of fees paid by franchisees and compliance with corporate policies. This position involves conducting audits, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to improve business results and contractual compliance. The auditor will work closely with franchisees and internal teams to uphold the Dairy Queen brand and its operational integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all assigned franchise audits and compile and analyze data.
  • Conduct audits to ensure accuracy of fees paid by franchisees and analyze franchisee data for compliance with contractual provisions.
  • Understand Dairy Queen brand recipes and develop methods to reconstruct hypothetical sales based on product purchase volumes.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with franchisees to deliver audit results and discuss recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage, review, perform, and approve testing procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity in accounting and operational practices.
  • Communicate recommendations for improvement effectively to stakeholders.
  • Assess, negotiate, and collect additional royalties and advertising fees due to ADQ Companies.
  • Review franchisee contracts and interpret language in accordance with ADQ Companies policies.
  • Protect the Dairy Queen brand by verifying proper use of trademarks and approved products.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in audit procedures and departmental objectives.
  • Document and maintain departmental procedures for reference by auditors.
  • Promote continuous improvement and uphold DQ Core values.

Requirements

  • Three years of relevant auditing and accounting experience.
  • Three years of prior restaurant experience preferred.
  • Experience in data analytics and data visualization tools.
  • Experience working within a franchisor organization preferred.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative ideas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate audit results to franchisees.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to defuse conflict.
  • Ability to work in varied environments while on the road completing audits.
  • Ability to coordinate with other departments to complete projects on time.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant operations preferred.
