About the position
This position is for an Outpatient Internal Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner at a Critical Access Hospital near Houlton, Maine. The role offers a four-day work week with no call, allowing for a balanced lifestyle with ample time for family and outdoor activities. The clinic is designed for easy access to hospital services, and the team consists of one physician and three PA/NPs, focusing primarily on geriatric patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient care to patients, primarily geriatric, managing chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid Disorder, CHF, and COPD.
- Conduct annual exams, follow-ups, and acute visits for patients.
- Utilize EMR system (Meditech Expanse) for patient documentation and management.
- Work collaboratively with a team of healthcare providers in a clinic setting.
- See an average of 16 patients per day, with opportunities for bonuses based on patient volume.
Requirements
- Master's Degree completed as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- National Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Maine State Medical License.
- Proven interest and experience in Internal Medicine, including relevant preceptorships, courses, and electives.
- Comfort in managing treatment plans for patients with chronic illnesses.
- Interest in rural medicine and willingness to live in northern Maine.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a Critical Access Hospital setting.
- Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR system.
