About the position
The Certified Pharmacy Technician position at Henry Ford Health involves supporting pharmacy operations under the direction of a registered pharmacist. The role includes filling medication orders, maintaining records, and performing various pharmacy-related duties to ensure efficient service delivery in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Fill medication orders including IV admixtures under the direction of a pharmacist.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by departmental policies.
- Package and label medications for dispensing.
- Compound creams, ointments, and oral solutions as directed by the pharmacist.
- Sort and file patient orders, prescriptions, and other records.
- Access and utilize the pharmacy computer system for recording information and generating reports.
- Handle phone inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Monitor medication expiration dates and maintain a clean work area.
- Assist in training new personnel and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Pharmacy Technician License from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
- High school diploma or GED required; graduate of a Pharmacy Tech program preferred.
- Experience with Windows operating system.
