About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at Poudre School District is responsible for processing employment documentation and providing exceptional customer service to applicants, new hires, and various stakeholders within the district. This role involves managing recruitment and selection processes, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements, and supporting staff with HR-related inquiries and training.

Responsibilities

  • Process new employees including tracking and verifying new hire paperwork, payroll documentation, and qualification documentation such as background checks and education verification.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all levels of staff and new hires by responding to questions regarding assignments, contracts, licensure, pay, job postings, and hiring processes.
  • Determine initial salary placement for new employees based on education and work experience, and analyze coursework for lane changes and salary placements.
  • Set up employee assignments in HRIS for payroll processing and conduct audits for data accuracy.
  • Train and mentor new office managers in HR functions and systems, assisting with daily HR questions.
  • Post and close job vacancies, monitor applicants, and communicate with departments throughout the hiring process.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to ensure consistency in processes and documentation, providing support to HR Directors and other staff.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Create and distribute administrative and licensed teacher contracts, ensuring receipt for personnel files.
  • Track and record new hires, resignations, retirements, and leaves of absence for Board of Education agenda.
  • Compose employment verification and salary letters for employees.
  • Lead and coordinate special projects as assigned, including student teachers and summer school programs.
  • Work with systems administrators to update HRIS for process efficiency.
  • Collect, track, and maintain staffing information for annual staffing processes and prepare documents for compensation plan meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent in a related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Knowledge of educational policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with state licensure requirements for educators.
