About the position
The International Admissions Counselor at Northern State University is responsible for the recruitment, admission, and orientation of international students. This role involves compliance with federal regulations, managing immigration casework, advising students on various matters, and conducting outreach activities to promote the university's programs internationally.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct outreach activities related to the recruitment and admission of international students.
- Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for compliance with SEVIS regulations.
- Manage immigration casework and advise international students on policies and procedures.
- Issue I-20 forms for F1 Student Visa eligibility and prepare for educational fairs.
- Develop international marketing plans and materials.
- Conduct university outreach activities to international students both in-person and virtually.
- Develop external partnerships and participate in international recruiting fairs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with one year of professional experience.
- Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) with knowledge of SEVIS procedures.
- Experience interpreting and applying federal immigration laws and regulations.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in complex situations.
- Experience working with complex organizational processes and procedures.
- Strong aptitude for learning and disseminating technical information.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience working with international students and diverse populations.
- Ability to plan and deliver professional presentations.
