About the position

The International Trade Compliance Specialist at Magnetic Technologies Corporation is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily import and export compliance activities across all global business units. This position supports the Global Trade Compliance Director in identifying compliance gaps and mitigating trade compliance risks. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of Schedule B/HTS and ECCN classification, which are essential for ensuring that all trade activities adhere to international, federal, and regional laws and regulations. In this role, the specialist will collaborate with various internal teams, including sales, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, finance, and legal, to maintain optimal compliance and minimize delays in inbound and outbound shipments. The specialist will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures that ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards. Continuous improvement initiatives will be led to address global trade compliance risks and gaps effectively. The position also involves conducting internal and external audits to assess compliance effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. The specialist will work closely with logistics and approved customs brokers to perform monthly sample entry audits, ensuring that agents meet established Key Performance Indicators. Additionally, the role includes managing import and export recordkeeping, conducting denied/restricted party screenings, and facilitating the solicitation of certificates of origin. The specialist will also create certificates of origin or USMCA certificates as needed and participate in various global, regional, or local projects as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily import/export compliance activities for all global business units.
  • Support the Global Trade Compliance Director in identifying compliance gaps and reducing trade compliance risks.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for compliance with international, federal, and regional laws.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to address global trade compliance risks and gaps.
  • Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams regarding product value, country of origin, and tariff classifications.
  • Conduct internal and external audits to ensure trade compliance effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate completion of corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Work with logistics and customs brokers to conduct monthly sample entry audits.
  • Manage import and export recordkeeping and update HTS or ECCN codes as necessary.
  • Complete denied/restricted party screenings of suppliers, customers, and visitors.
  • Analyze and determine country of origin for products.
  • Facilitate supplier solicitation of certificates of origin and lead annual FTA supplier solicitations for USMCA.
  • Create certificates of origin or USMCA certificates as requested by customers.
  • Participate in global, regional, or local projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience required (5 years preferred in the export/international trade environment).
  • Export Certified & LCB preferred but not required.
  • Classification experience with HTS/Schedule B and ECCN required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Trademo, and Sytline.
  • Understanding of ACE portal and experience with DDTC & SNAP-R.
