About the position

LMI seeks an Event Planner to support our OUSD(A&S) customer in Arlington, VA. In this role, the Event Planner will support a team responsible for organizing events and conferences for national and international visitors to a U.S. government office. The planner will be tasked with organizing meals, tours, programs, documents for distribution, audio-visual needs, transportation, translation services, and accommodations as required. Additionally, the Event Planner will manage the government gift locker for international visitors and work in conjunction with a government contracting officer, government sponsors of events, and existing protocol offices to provide comprehensive support. The Event Planner will also support other team event planners in documenting best practices and practical guidance in an Event Planning guide for ongoing use by the government office. Participation in meetings, taking meeting notes, recording taskers and actions, and updating the staff when necessary will also be part of the responsibilities. Preparing briefings as appropriate is expected as well.

Responsibilities

  • Support a team of event planners responsible for organizing events and conferences for national and international visitors to a U.S. government office.

  • Manage government gift locker for international visitors.
  • Work in conjunction with a government contracting officer, government sponsors of events, and existing protocol offices to provide support.

  • Attend and participate in meetings, take meeting notes, record taskers and actions, and update the staff when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university field.
  • One (1) year event planning support experience.
  • Experience managing customer expectations and working directly with customers.
  • Outstanding customer service abilities combined with initiative, judgment, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Current SECRET level security clearance required, with a TOP SECRET clearance preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years' experience supporting events with a Federal Agency or multinational organization.
  • Knowledge of options within the Pentagon for catering, photography.
  • Ability to create and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities.
