About the position

The International Trade Compliance Specialist at Arnold Magnetic Technologies is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily import and export compliance activities across all global business units. This position supports the Global Trade Compliance Director in identifying compliance gaps and mitigating trade compliance risks. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of Schedule B/HTS and ECCN classification, which are essential for ensuring that all trade activities adhere to applicable laws and regulations. The specialist will collaborate with various internal teams to maintain optimal compliance, thereby minimizing any potential delays in inbound and outbound shipments. In this role, the specialist will assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with international, federal, and regional laws. This includes leading continuous improvement initiatives to address global trade compliance risks and gaps. The specialist will provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams, including sales, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, finance, and legal, to validate product value, country of origin, tariff exemption eligibility, and harmonized tariff code classifications. Additionally, the role involves conducting internal and external audits to assess compliance effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. The specialist will also manage import and export recordkeeping, update HTS or ECCN codes, and facilitate the acquisition of necessary licenses. They will perform denied/restricted party screenings and analyze country of origin determinations, working closely with purchasing and operations personnel. Furthermore, the specialist will lead annual FTA supplier solicitations for USMCA and create certificates of origin as required. Participation in other global, regional, or local projects may also be part of the responsibilities, along with performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Global Trade Compliance Director with developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for compliance.
  • Support the Global Trade Compliance Director in leading continuous improvements to address global trade compliance risks and gaps.
  • Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams to validate product value, country of origin, and tariff exemption eligibility.
  • Conduct internal or external audits to ensure trade compliance effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with Logistics and Customs Brokers to conduct monthly sample entry audits and provide customs compliance support.
  • Manage import and export recordkeeping and update HTS or ECCN codes as necessary.
  • Complete denied/restricted party screenings of suppliers, customers, and visitors.
  • Analyze country of origin and facilitate supplier solicitation of certificates of origin.
  • Lead annual FTA supplier solicitations for USMCA and create certificates of origin as requested.
  • Participate in other global, regional, or local projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience required (5 years preferred) in the export/international trade environment.
  • Export Certified & LCB preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with global exposure is a plus.
  • Classification experience with HTS/Schedule B and ECCN required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with international trade compliance in a global context.
  • Familiarity with ITAR classification (USML).
