About the position

The International Multimedia Journalist II for the China Division is responsible for creating and producing news and feature content for various media platforms, including broadcasts and social media. This role involves conducting interviews, researching facts, translating content, and contributing to the production of radio and TV programs. The journalist will work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring high standards of quality and productivity are met.

Responsibilities

• Writes news and feature content as assigned for use in broadcasts and web/social media
• Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in assigned stories
• Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOAs digital asset management system
• Researches and confirms facts in stories produced by self or by others, as assigned
• Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned
• Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned
• Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or TV programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned
• Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others
• Contributes finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material and static graphics, as assigned
• Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned
• Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed
• Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines
• Serves as videographer or reporter, as assigned
• Works independently as a member of a team

Requirements

• Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area
• Fluency in English (written/spoken)
• Experience in multimedia journalism or related field
• Strong research and fact-checking skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality content

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with digital asset management systems
• Familiarity with social media platforms for news dissemination
• Technical skills in video editing and production
