About the position

The International Payroll Operations Manager at Justworks is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll and payroll tax operations across various countries. This role involves shaping operational workflows, collaborating with local teams and external partners, and innovating payroll solutions to support the company's international business. The manager will also address payroll-related inquiries and ensure compliance with local regulations while driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of Justworks International payroll processes and platform.
  • Establish, implement, and oversee end-to-end payroll and payroll-related processes, including daily payroll adjustments and payroll tax processing.
  • Work closely with outside payroll vendors ensuring timely and accurate delivery of payroll.
  • Ensure tax updates are validated and successfully uploaded to all applicable systems in a timely manner.
  • Document internal processes/controls and maintain relevant internal resources for policies and procedures.
  • Provide internal payroll operations and payroll tax guidance to multiple departments.
  • Establish processes for accurate quarter and year-end processing, including tax reconciliations.
  • Address customer payroll and payroll tax inquiries alongside customer-facing and Operations teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborate with Product and Operations teams to automate payroll processes.
  • Lead the implementation of process changes and ensure adherence in partnership with Payroll Operations leadership.
  • Support internal control compliance initiatives and ensure payroll tax processes are updated.
  • Act as liaison between third-party vendors and Justworks for issue resolutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll operations, preferably in the HR or EOR space.
  • Experience with project management and/or business process management activities.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations across multiple countries.
  • Strong experience in using payroll software and platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and complex spreadsheet creation.
  • Client-facing skills to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
